We are Soldiers for Christ working for the upbuilding of His Kingdom through song ministry and through the Word.
We are Holiness believing Christians who strive daily to stay in the center of the Lord's will, as we travel and minister in song and in the Word.
Tune in to WSLM 1220 AM in Salem, Indiana on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. and/or to WSGS 101.1 FM in Hazard, Kentucky on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 p.m. for our 30 minute gospel program with singing and preaching every Sunday.
Fear not little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. St. Luke 12:32
The Ten Commandments
Our group is made up of our family members: Our mom, Ruth who sings lead and alto, sister Carol who sings lead and alto, brother Larry who sings lead and is an evangelist, sister Evelyn who sings lead, sister Brenda who sings lead and tenor, and brother Virgil who sings lead and is also an evangelist.
Our musicians include Brother Anthony Lee on the piano, Brother David Matheny on the bass, and Sister Brenda on the guitar.
Our Holiness and Baptist upbringing has taught us many good things. Both our grandfathers were ministers, one a Holiness and the other Baptist preacher.
Our Dad died in 1965 leaving behind our mom and six children, when we were at the ages of 4 to 16. Church was always a very important part of our lives and our parents always made sure we were there everytime it was possible and our Mom continued this throughout our young lives.
When attending church in our younger days, whether it be the Baptist or the Pentecostal, we witnessed shouting and praising services unlike any we've seen since. As small children, we watched our elders worship and uplift the name of Jesus in song and in praise.
There have been many influences in our lives, including our pastors, and family members, not the least of which is our Mom, who endured many hardships after being left with 6 children to raise and who worked as hard as anyone we knew to make sure we had food on the table and a roof over our head and no matter what was going on in her life at the time, she always made sure we went to church and Sunday School. She has been the glue that has held us together all these years and the one to encourage us to go on, no matter how hard the road seemed to get.
